We had our first Christmas in our new house. The whole family came up to celebrate with us. Christmas Eve we went to a family friends house. They are very near and dear people, I consider them family even though we aren’t related by blood. Constance started the tradition of giving each one in our family an ornament every year. I get rocking horses, Kelsey gets snowmen, mom gets pigs and my dad gets skiers. I have 26 rocking horse ornaments this year. Each one has a date on it so there is a record of which ones came at which year. I pretty much have them memorized by now. My dad bought us a live tree this year so we can plant it and have it as a token of our first Christmas. It wasn’t very big but I managed to fit all the rocking horses on it. Constance said she is going to start giving Cody ornaments but hasn’t figured out what she likes for him yet, it will be interesting to see what she picks out.
We all woke up this morning and had a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, cottage cheese rolls and champagne. We toasted to all the magnificent thing that have happened this year and all the more to come. After breakfast we got busy cooking pies and Christmas dinner. And opening presents, of course. I got three horse books; Spanish Mustangs by John Hockensmith, A Modern Horse Herbal by Hilary Page Self and A Healthy Horse the Natural Way by Catherine Bird. They are all very cool and I’m excited to dig into them. I also got very pretty horse head earring and necklace set from Cody’s dad and tourmaline necklace from his parents. We also got a Spanish Mustang Dr. street sign for the house
The weather was perfect for playing with the ponies. It was a little chilly but it was clear skies and sunshine. My mom, sister and I took all three of the ponies out for a walk. I rode Paisano in his new Cashel Soft Saddle, mom led Miss and Kelsey led Rosie. It was our first big outing all together at once The girls did fantastic I even ponied Rosie a little while riding Paisano! Miss is just the most laid back girl, we past some kids who were out on their new 4-wheeler and all Miss did was glance over at them. Rosie had to check them out pretty good but that is the way they are. Rosie is super curious and has to check everything out and Miss could care less. Paisano did a good job with his new saddle. I had the stirrups a little long but they gave me the extra support I was looking for. It’s pretty much a really cushioned bareback pad but the stirrups are nice. I really enjoy riding bareback so this is great for just cruisin’ around.
My uncle and his family came over for Christmas dinner. This time more of his family came with and we all went out to see the ponies. Josh and Sarah were the only ones who wanted to ride. It was another first timer for Paisano, Josh had never been on a horse and he did great. I’m so happy that the kids trust Paisano so much. Sarah went for her second ride and she acted like a seasoned pro The rest of pics from the day can be found on flickr
